Paying for care

Ways to pay for care at home

Private home care is out-of-pocket for most families in Ontario — but more of it comes back than people think. Here's the honest map.

Ontario Seniors' Care at Home Tax Credit

A refundable Ontario credit worth up to 25% of up to $6,000 in eligible care expenses — as much as $1,500 back per year for eligible seniors aged 70+.

Medical Expense Tax Credit (CRA)

Attendant care at home can qualify as a medical expense on the federal return — yours, or your parent's. We format receipts the way your accountant wants them.

Disability Tax Credit

If you or your parent qualify for the DTC, it opens the door to several other credits and benefits. Worth checking — many families never apply.

Veterans Affairs Canada

Veterans may qualify for home care support through VAC health benefits. We can provide the invoices and records your caseworker asks for.

Private insurance & benefits

Some extended health plans and retiree benefit packages reimburse home support hours. Ask your insurer — we'll supply any paperwork.

Blending with public care

Ontario Health atHome provides publicly funded care, but hours are often limited. Many families keep those hours and use us to top them up — it stretches the budget further.

We help with the paperwork: itemized receipts, visit records and care plans — formatted for your accountant, insurer or caseworker. We're not tax advisors, but we're very good at making their job easy.
